We sell seven South African wines at Zweli’s Kitchen. Four red and three white wines.  We also offer ½ wine of Fridays all day for CHEERS Fridays.

 
 

REDS

 

Klipkers Rosé Blend | $8/glass | $30/bottle

  • Traditional style rosé – nice and dry

  • A lovely fresh, light, and fruity wine.

  • Made with Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvedre grapes

  • Aged 6 month in steel vats

  • Hints of melons and passion fruit

  • 11.81% ABV

Buffelsfontein Pinotage | $9/glass | $34/bottle

  • Buffelsfontein (boof-fulls-fon-ten) | Pinotage (pee-no-taj)         

  • Buffelsfontein is a city in South Africa in the NW region which means “Buffalo Fountain”

  • Nicknamed “liquid gold” due to the area in upper South Africa near Botswana where gold was mined.

  • Made from grapes grown in a mixture of worn granite and Hutton soil roughly 130 meters above sea level.

  • 12-month French barrel age

  • Hints of mulberry, plum, raspberry. Smoky finish.

  • 14% ABV

 

Hoendertande Pinot Noir | $46/bottle

  • Hoendertande (hoon-der-taun-da) means “Hen’s teeth” -- a saying when something is rare

  • Light-bodied wine

  • Hints of sour red cherry and raspberries. Has earthly notes of herbs as well.

  • Slightly acidic and spiced finish

  • Sits 6-7 months in French barrels

  • Pairs well with beef and chicken

  • 14% ABV

Heimwee Cabernet Sauvignon | $11/glass | $40/bottle

  • Heimwee (hime-way) or (hime-v-ah) means “home sick”

  • Cabernet (cab-er-nay) | Sauvignon (so-vin-yown)

  • Hints of red and blackberries, herbs and minerals

  • Medium-bodied wine

  • Dry

  • 13.5% ABV

 

Whites

 

Buffelsfontein Chenin Blanc (Steen) | $9/glass | $34/bottle

  • Buffelsfontein (boof-fulls-fon-ten)

  • Buffelsfontein is a city in South Africa in the NW region which means “Buffalo Fountain”

  • Fresh, lively and bright

  • Steen is an Afrikaans word for Chenin Blanc

  • Steel vat aged 3-3.5 months

  • Citrus. Stone fruit finish (Apricots, peach, guava, passionfruit)

  • 12.5% ABV

White Squirrel Sauvignon Blanc | $8/glass |$30/bottle

  • Sauvignon (so-vin-yown) | Blanc (blangk)

  • Aged 6 months in steel vats

  • On the nose, grapefruit and green pepper

  • Flavors of green apple and tropical stone fruits on the finish

  • 13.5% ABV

 

Mont Rochelle Chardonnay | $8/glass | $30/bottle

  • Chardonnay (shar-duh-nay)

  • Pale straw color with golden hues

  • Displays flinty, mineral, and white stone fruit on the nose

  • Hints of citrus and pear on the palate

  • Aged half in French oak and half in stainless steel vats

  • Great with poultry and seafood

  • 13.5% ABV
